I have been trained on how to fix appliances by my grandfather and father since I was a little kid. Now, at 34 years old I own and operate my own appliance repair company. He owned and operated an appliance repair company serving Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC for 40 years. My father worked for him for 20 years before taking over his business when my grandfather retired.Indesit date codes are taken from the first five digits of the serial number which is broken down as follows The first digit represents the year The second and third digits represent the month And the fourth and fifth digit represent the day of the month Like all other date code systems you would first need to know which decade the appliance was made in although with most appliances just by looking at it you should be able to tell if looks over 10 years old or not.
The term free does not mean that they are not aiming for any profits.
The next two numbers relate to the week in the year (there are 52 weeks in a year) Example: E42604123 (July 2014) this breaks down as week 26 This is the first week in July and 4 is either 1984 - 2014 or 2044.
So unless you have a really old appliance you can rule out 1984 and as we are not yet into 2044 the code must relate to 2014 so the date of manufacture would be July 2014 To determine the age of a Hotpoint or Creda appliance up until 2002 the first two digits of the serial number represent the date code, but you would need a date code graph as shown bellow to determine which month or year it was made in.
