She's known for spicing up her shows (Money Saving Meals is the other one) with wacky costumes — she once dressed as Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes — and some of her signature lines are "Let's get cookin'! "Lee's Miss America-style good looks have probably not been a hindrance to the unbridled growth of her lifestyle empire, which includes her two Food Network shows, a magazine, 22 cookbooks, a memoir, and now housewares.
"I just signed a huge deal with Sears and Kmart — tabletops, linens, sheets, and towels," she says. Lee, who is 45, has two more books coming out this fall, one on "money-saving meals" and one on "being a gracious hostess." They are part of a new five-book deal with Hyperion; she'll also be writing two novels.
She suffered complications from that and had to get more surgery. She has been very open with her fans about what she has gone through.
