Quick Books Online users often plow through the following gauntlet: run a report, export it to an Excel file, open the Excel file, select the data, copy it to the clipboard, and—finally—paste it into its final destination. This is tedious enough to do once, but can also be time-consuming and error-prone when repeated enough times.Microsoft Query can eliminate the need to open, select, copy and paste.Once you establish a connection to a report that you export periodically, simply keep saving over the original spreadsheet that you downloaded—your linked spreadsheet will update itself when you open it.If you have the proper driver, you can use Microsoft Query to connect Excel spreadsheets directly to Quick Books and eliminate exporting accounting reports. However, this often requires intimate knowledge of the underpinnings of Quick Books, so for this article I’ll democratize Microsoft Query by showing how anyone can create self-updating links between spreadsheets. If this feature fails to detect any update, it is possible to manually install the Service Packs. Please note that in order to install SP2, you must first have the Service Pack 1 update installed. Please refer to the Install Instructions section on the Microsoft Download Center page for details on how to install a Service Pack.To update Excel 2016, click on Check for Updates, which is located in the Help menu of your menu bar.
When preparing monthly or quarterly reports, it is often useful to know how to share the data among the different applications in the Office 2016 suite.
Previously, when opening spreadsheets with External Links in Excel 2010, the linked cells would retain their stored values until I would select Update Links.
With Excel 2016, even though I select Dont Update when prompted regarding External Links, the links are still being calculated.
When they follow this link, a copy of the workbook opens on a new page in their default web browser using the Excel Online Web app (if the web app is not compatible with the type of browser in use on their device, the browser opens it with the web viewer).
If you’ve given the user permission to edit the file, the web app contains an Edit Workbook button.
